Week of March 28, 2016 What an incredible day! The Heroes Museum was wonderful. The second graders did an outstanding job in their performance as well as their written and oral reports of their hero. Wednesday, April 6 - STEAM Night 5-8 P.M. Thursday, April 7 - Black and White Spirit Day Week of February 8, 2016 This week the students in room 36 made Valentine's Day cards and filled bags with candy to be delivered to the residents at Turning Point. They felt a great deal of joy being able to participate in such a wonderful mitzvah. Monday, February 15 - No School (Presdient's Day) Tuesday, February 16 - No School (P.D. Day for teachers) Week of February 1, 2016 This was a very exciting week. The second grader had an incredible time learning and exploring new things at the California Science Center. They were amazed at the size of the Endeavor Space Shuttle and all of the different missions it took to outer space. They also enjoyed learning about homeostasis from Tess the Robot and about the humpback whales during the 3D movie. Overall it was a wonderful experience for everyone! The royal reader this week was very enthusiastic when reading her book to her classmates. Week of January 25, 2016 This week was filled with many mitzvot as well as plenty of fun and educational activities during both of our field trips. At Camp Alonim, the students had a wonderful time celebrating Tu'Bshvat. They planted trees in the garden, baked cookies, sang songs, and even did some Israeli dancing. The students in Mrs. Baral and Ms. Margolis' class had the opportunity to go to Turning Point. They made sandwiches and packed lunches for the residents and were very proud of the mitzvah that they did. Tuesday, February 2 - Field Trip to the California Science Museum Friday, February 5 - 2nd Grade Shabbat Dinner (Services start at 6:15 p.m.) Week of January 18, 2016 This week the students learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and all of his achievements. They discussed the ethical issues as well as the multiple perspectives during the time of the Civil Rights Movement. They had great insights into talking about our Big Idea of how the power of non-violence led to the end of segregation. The students also wrote about their individual dreams for how they can make a difference in the world. Klei Kodesh Both last week and this week's Klei Kodesh did an outstanding job of leading us in the Misheberach prayer and telling us about who they pray for healing. Royal Reader Each of the royal readers this week and last week did a wonderful job of reading and sharing their book with the class. Monday, January 25 - Camp Alonim (Remember that buses are leaving at 7:30 a.m, so be sure to be here before then) Friday, February 5 - 2nd Grade Shabbat Dinner Week of January 4, 2016 After some much needed rain and some indoor lunches and recesses the student's in Room 34 had the opportunity to do a mitzvah and complete their Hessed project. They went to Turning Point, where they were able to make sandwiches and pack up lunches for the homeless people that live there. It was a wonderful learning experience for everyone! Project Studio In Project Studio the students have been learning about famous inventors and had the opportunity to create their very own parachutes. Monday, January 12 - Risk Management Briefing at 7:00pm Monday, January 18 - No School (MLK Day) Tuesday, January 19 - No School (Professional Development Day) Week of December 14, 2015 What a fun and exciting week we had. On Thursday we had our first spirit day, Israel Day! All of the students came dressed in either Blue and White, or their favorite Israeli gear. This week the students had a wonderful time celebrating Hanukkah during the Second Grade Hanukkah party. They played the dreidle game, decorated delicious cookies, made edible dreidles, and decorated some beautiful pictures frames. What a great way to celebrate the festival of lights! Happy Hanukkah to all! Week of November 30, 2015 This week in Hebrew the students began learning about the story of Hanukkah and all of the different vocabulary terms to go along with it. Friday, December 11 - 2nd Grade Hanukkah Party (Don't forget to send in the party supplies assigned to your child) Week of November 23, 2015 This week we had the pleasure of celebrating Thanksgiving with all of our special visitors for M'Dor L'Dor. It was a wonderful and exciting day filled with many activities to bring together all of the generations. The students did an outstanding job of singing their Thanksgiving song in front of the whole school and their special guests. Happy Thanksgiving! |
