We are learning about plants and the season of Spring. We have explored spring with our five senses, and learned about the different parts of a plant. We planted radishes and sunflowers in our classrooms and a variety of vegetables on our yard. We even made a salad with delicious vegetables from our school garden! We are also becoming entomologists, studying various insects, the parts of their bodies, and in some cases, the metamorphosis which takes place!
In math, we are working on subtraction. We have been listening to and creating subtraction stories and number sentences to go with them. We use manipulatives to act out the stories.
In Hebrew, we are learning about various colors and animals as we recreate the famous book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? By the end of the unit, the children will have vocabulary for brown bear, red parrot, orange fish, yellow duck, green frog, blue horse, purple butterfly, black monkey, white dog, gray dolphin, and rainbow peacock. We are also learning about the holiday of Shavuot and discussing important rules found in the Torah.
Learn deeply. Be creative. Experience wholeness.
Make great happen.
Visiting Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Raymond's First Grade classroom
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open House. What an exciting night! Classrooms were filled with Incredible and Icky Insects, journals about spring and the 5 senses, metamorphosis of ladybugs and butterflies, and so much more! Our classroom chrysalids finally turned into Painted Lady butterflies, and were released. They remind us of our Kindergarteners and how they’ve transformed into budding First Graders, soon to be set free for the summer. As the year quickly comes to an end, we reflect and think about all of the great moments and adventures we’ve had in Kindergarten this year. Thank you for all of your help and support. We could not have done all of the amazing work this year without you. Together, we truly make great happen.
