Our students have been being creative, practicing their Israeli dance moves with the talented Mrs. Orevi. We are excited to show our new moves off as we dance with our Sixth Grade Buddies this Wednesday, February 4, during our Tu B'Shvat field trip at Camp Alonim. Students should arrive to school by 7:30 a.m. wearing their I Love Wise School teal t-shirts (any pants will do) and comfortable closed shoes. There is no need to bring a backpack, snack, or lunch. Students MAY bring a reusable water bottle or drink from the fountains at camp. We can't wait to explore teva (nature), make art, and dance and sing as we celebrate the trees with our Wise School community.

The students have been learning deeply about how to research topics, as each class studies various animals. Our learning process consists of meeting an unclear idea, thinking about what we already know, researching new information, and finally thinking about how to apply it. Room 65 is studying birds, while Room 66 learns about Madagascar's fossa. In preparation for this learning, each class visited the science lab to discuss the meaning of a habitat and adaptation. The children were then given an opportunity to observe (and touch!) some animals while looking at their respective habitats and/or adaptations.
Welcome to our inviting community built with some boxes and bare hands! Kindergartners put their deep learning into practice and experienced wholeness by building an actual community complete with: fire station, police station, hospital, post office, airport, park, library, supermarket, Wise School, and many neighborhoods. The children made roads to link the different areas together and placed various signs and symbols throughout. We now know that a community is a place where one lives, works, learns, or plays, and we look forward to making positive changes in all of the communities we are a part of.
Kindergartners have been learning deeply about communities. We have explored what makes a community and how communities can look different. We have learned about a variety of community workers whose services are necessary for our community's well-being. Furthermore, we have created maps of our communities and studied symbols that are used on maps and roadways. We are even in the midst of building our very own communities inside of our classrooms! The best part of this unit, however, has been realizing that we are all members of several loving communities, like our beloved Wise School.
