This week kindergartners met their sixth grade buddies for the first time. The two grades met for a snack meet and greet. Throughout the year, the sixth graders will help their kindergartner buddies complete curriculum projects, sit together for services, and engage in various social activities. It's a relationship unique to our school and one that both the sixth graders and kindergartners cherish. And in six short years, our students will experience wholeness as they become the sixth grade mentors for the future kindergartners.

This week the children gathered in the sukkah to conclude the holiday of Sukkot by singing and dancing with one another under their class-made decorations. On Friday, our Simchat Torah service acknowledged the ending of the reading of the Torah. The students had the opportunity to celebrate this milestone by waving their flags, dancing, kissing the Torah, and seeing it up close as it was unrolled from end to end. We look forward to experiencing wholeness, as we start the reading of the Torah all over again.
Music class at Wise School is a creative process as our kindergartners learn traditional songs that have been sung through generations, while also incorporating new, innovative musical styles and techniques. These includes drumming in the Earth Room, engaging in listening stations to learn about various musicians and musical styles, and the use of a computer program designed to teach music theory. We'd like to thank Ms. Weinstein for opening our hearts, eyes, and ears over the last several weeks, and we welcome and look forward to exploring more music with Mr. Brock--the newest edition to our music team. |
