This week students were very busy with many fall and thanksgiving themed crafts and activities in preparation for Thanksgiving! They completed their fall masterpieces, made leaf printed shirts, pilgrim and indian hats. In math they worked on creating patterns as they made their necklaces in preparation for their Thanksgiving feast! This week in math students learned that fewer means less. They compared different groups of objects to find out which group has less. They also learned how to find how many in all for a group of objects. In hebrew with Mrs. Katan, students continued studying the family as we prepare for Midor L'dor. Students created beautiful family trees! They also enjoyed having pretend telephone conversations with Mrs. Katan to converse about who is home/not home. They kids love this fun interaction as it is a great way to practice their hebrew vocabulary! We look forward to seeing you all at Midor L'dor!! Upcoming Events11/24 Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast
11/25 Midor L'dor. Early Dismissal at 12:00pm 11/26-27 Thanksgiving Holiday This week students were introduced to their 6th grade buddy! The kindergarten students had a chance to have snack with their buddy and get to know them! Kindergarteners also had the chance to be creative as they worked with together their 6th grade buddy to make special placemat that they will use during their Thanksgiving feast! This week they also had phonics (letter f) and handwriting practice! (M & C). In math students counted and practiced ordering numbers 1-10, showed different numbers using their hands, practiced finding out how many more, and practiced the vocabulary of one more. In Mrs. Katan's hebrew class students have been learning the hebrew words for different items in the home as well as names for Jewish items in the home too. In Mrs. Stones Hebrew class Yaldey Hagan recognized Hebrew letter sounds and vowels. Upcoming Events11/16: No School/ Professional Development
11/24: Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast! 11/25: K-6 Midor L'dor 12pm Dismissal This week students were excited to visit the book fair! We have enjoyed seeing their excitement towards books! We wanted to congratulate Radin Davidi and Laila Javid for winning the bookmark contest for kindergarten!! Students had the opportunity to hear guest author Kathleen Krull speak about her love for writing. Students learned deeply about what it takes to become an author, We hope she inspired some of our students to become writers! This week we focused more on the season of fall, the letter F, and students practiced making different words that end with "all." In math, students practiced ordering things by weight. They also compared different objects and animals where they used words such as light and heavy to describe them. Students also used cubes to find all the different ways they can make numbers 2-5. Students also had practice ordering numbers 1-10 and had practice with learning one more. In Hebrew with Mrs. Katan, students are learning the names of their family members as well as different parts of the house. In Mrs. Stone's Hebrew Gan, the students practice writing the Alef -Bet.
