Our focus this week continues with Noah’s Ark. You may have heard your children pronouncing his name like a true Hebrew speaker…NOACH! The children were delighted to bake animal sugar cookies this week. They enjoy cooking very much! Building Noach’s Ark is a very big task in Room 15. We first painted water for the flood and after many days of creating different Ark (Tevah) structures, we have begun with our collaborative Tevah structure. Our friend also created individual Lego structures. They originally started out as a Tevah and have transformed into other vehicles and flying vessels. We have displayed them in our classroom. Room 15 - Student Comments: Gabriel – “No putting hands in mouth because bugs will get in your mouth and will make a party in your tummy”. Brooks – When asked, how do you know all the colors in Hebrew – “ Because my body told me”. Shabbat ShalomJ Mira & Liat RemindersSnack of the week: Shane

We began this week with the story of Noah’s Ark (Tevah), as it is the Parshat Hashavuah of the week. The children have taken a huge interest in this story, exploring the animal names in Hebrew and learning the story through the book, props, songs and toys. We are using wooden blocks and planks to build Noah’s Ark with animals in couples (Zoogot). Some of the children drew sketches of Noah’s Ark, which we will display at a later time. We will continue working on this theme for the next couple weeks alongside our upcoming (Stav) Fall unit. Please take your child on a neighborhood nature walk to collect leaves, pinecones, branches, bark of various shapes, sizes and colors that will last throughout this season. We went on our own nature walk this week after Library and picnicked behind the Sanctuary. This week, the children climbed onto boulders and used their gross motor skills to do so. If you have not yet signed up for Tricycle Express or brought in a helmet for your child, please do so this coming week.

Shabbat Child: November 7 - Elad Library: October 29 - Oliver & Brooks This week we visited the Torah in the main Temple. We spoke about what the Torah is and what the Torah teaches us through stories. We learned that God is (Eloheem). The children have said that God is the world, and we read the Torah on Shabbat and we should listen when we read the Torah. We picnicked out in the garden and climbed trees. The children really enjoy being outside in nature. Please visit our classroom so that you can see our Sukkot and Simchat Torah art displays. The children are very proud of their work. If you have not yet signed up for Tricycle Express or brought in a helmet for your child, please do so this coming week. Shabbat Child: October 24 - Jordan Library: October 22 Henry & Shoreh The children worked on creating their own Sukkah this week as we are now learning about the Sukkot holiday. We visited and had snack in the sukkah this week as a class and with Ulpanon Bet. We shared snack and listened to a Sukkot story with our room 1 friends. We sang a new Sukkot song and each child created their own Sukkah. We wish you all a very happy Sukkot Holiday filled with joy, laughter and guests in your Sukkah. Shabbat Child: October 17, 2014 - Charlie Library: Jordan & Aiden No School: Thursday & Friday, October, 16, 2014 Our focus this week has been treating our friends with kindness in honor of Yom Kippur. At circle time we read “The Littlest Fish” by Sylvia Rouss and “Are you My Friend” by Eric Carl. We sang a song of friendship and togetherness. We danced in a large circle and with partners. We spoke of the different activities we like to do with our friends and most agreed that they would like a playdate with their classmates. We spoke about a “Big Circle of Friends” (Ma’agal Gadol Shel Chavereem) and created this concept in our classroom in different forms. We created art together, danced in a circle together and sang songs with our friends. Last week we celebrated Rosh Hashanah with Ulpanon Bet here in our classroom. We baked a cake for our guests (orcheem) in honor of the Birthday of the World, sang songs and had a dance party. We would like to remind you that we start our morning meeting promptly at 9:10 a.m., and it is very important your child come to school on time.
