Dear Room 13 Families,
It is hard to believe that this is our last full week of school of the 2015 - 2016 schoolyear! With that being said, we are still in full swing, working hard and wrapping up our year. We began our week with a beautiful Havdalah service celebrating with the whole school. It was a wonderful way to begin such a great week. After creating their trees last week, using bark and sticks, the children were finally able to attach their family pictures. They placed their picture in the center of the tree and then added their father, mother and grandparents to it. This created even more pride in their artwork; they and their families were truly a part of their masterpiece! Full of excitement, one child even exclaimed, “Look, look at my tree! My family is on it. It is my family tree!” As we discussed the year winding down, we wanted to make sure that the children had a special way to take home all of their amazing artwork and photos that have been on display in our classroom. So, using a cereal box, the children created boxes/paper holders to collect their artwork. They worked hard painting it so that not only will the artwork within be amazing, but the holder will be as well. On Thursday, we celebrated the holiday of Lag B’Omer. The children learned the idea behind the counting of the Omer and throughout the day, we focused on the number 33 (the day of the Omer on which Lag B’Omer falls). We discussed how children in Israel celebrate this day with big bonfires and for snack, the children created their very own edible bonfires using pretzel sticks, Cheetos and mini marshmallows! We continued our celebration with a picnic lunch, sitting around our pretend bonfire. In preparation for our party on Tuesday, May 31st at 9:15, the children have been singing songs that have been special to our class all throughout the year. We cannot wait to celebrate the end of the year and our summer birthdays together with all of you! Please remember, this is a party for each of you to celebrate with your child (so, no siblings please). We ended our fabulous week this week by celebrating a beautiful Shabbat with Eve and her family. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Shabbat Shalom, Your Room 13 Teachers Reminders: *Please remember to sign your child in and out, with a legible signature, EVERY day. If you have a high-lighted section, it means we need your signature in that space, as well as your normal spot for the day. *We continue to begin our circle at 9:20 AM. Please do your best to arrive before then. *May 30th – No School – Memorial Day *May 31st – End of the Year Party – Parents Invited – 9:15 *June 1st – Last day of School
