Dear Parents,
This was a very exploratory week in Room 14, as we had many sensory activities and continued to talk about fall. The children shared more fall items that were brought in, practicing presentation and speaking skills and being comfortable describing items or telling the story of how they got them. This has led to discussions about our senses and the children have begun pointing out what they are seeing, smelling, hearing, tasting and feeling. This week the children used a mixture of shaving cream, glue and food coloring to make 3D artwork, where the “paint” puffs up. The children used this as a sensory exploration experience and used their hands to get elbow deep in the material and spread it across our table. We also introduced new 12-piece jigsaw puzzles to continue challenging the children to problem solve and push through the frustration that comes along with new challenges. The children strengthened their fine motor development this week through the use of our fun feeding the animal’s game, where tongs are used to move food into an animal’s mouth. By focusing on these fine motor skills, especially with the fingers, it sets the children up for success when they will be holding a utensil or pencil to begin writing in the future. Thank you to Eitan’s mother, Kathie, for coming to read a book with the children this week as library parent. Reminders: Next week’s Shabbat child is Riana Rad. Wednesday October 31st is a half day for the children, pickup will be at 12pm with no extended. The second half of the day will be reserved for conferences. There will be no school on Thursday November 1st for conferences. Just a friendly reminder we do not celebrate Halloween so please leave the candy and costumes at home. Tot Shabbat is next Saturday November 3rd. Shabbat Shalom, Room 14 Teachers
