Dear Parents,
This week we were able to take out a variety of materials throughout the week, specifically at our art table. The children explored different materials such as oil pastels, chalk, and white crayons on black paper. They compared which they liked best, using descriptive vocabulary while using the material. They also discovered various ways to use the materials, such as smudging the marks of the oil pastels. We told a few felt stories, and after the children showed a lot of interest in the three little pigs story, we kept the story out during free play and the children enjoyed retelling each other the story. We also put out the more abstract puzzles this week, which exercise different problem-solving skills from our jigsaw puzzle options. Some of the children even took those pieces from the abstract puzzle and began building with them, showing how children can see materials in many different perspectives and utilize them in a unique way. Thank you to Sanaz, Dylan’s mom, for being our library parent this week. Have a great break!
