Dear Parents,
Even though our week was filled with lots of rain, we were able to start it off with a beautiful Havdalah service. Throughout the rest of our week, we had many different setups and resets of our table top and floor time activities. Your children continue to work on strengthening their fine motor skills through coloring, painting, drawing and some have started to show an interest in wanting to learn how to write their names. They worked on their creativity through building various structures and designs while using blocks, legos, wooden blocks to make castles, rivers and buildings and finding items around the classroom to explore with. We had the opportunity to sit back and observe your children continue to strengthen friendships and build new ones both with peers inside our room and ones that came to visit throughout the week. We also had many, many dance parties that consisted of freeze dance, baby shark, going on a bear hunt, head, shoulders, knees and toes and so much more! Our circle time was filled with discussions about Martin Luther King Jr and Tu B’Shevat. We talked about how people look different, have different skin colors, hair colors, eyes, shapes and sizes, etc. and we tied that in with importance of being a kind friend and what ways we can do that. For Tu B’Shevat, we have been practicing songs and talking about the importance of trees, what foods we get from them and how we can plant and take care of what we plant outside. Rabbi Sari came to our room, along with our friends from Room 12 and talked about the holiday, as well as teaching us a new song. Thank you to Leo and his family for spending a beautiful Shabbat with us. On Tuesday, Jan. 22nd, your children will be participating in a Tu B’Shevat celebration amongst the Explorer classrooms. The school will be providing different foods for them to taste, however if you have any fruit trees at home or would like to send in any fruits, dried or regular (such as apples, bananas, oranges, etc.) to add to the celebration, you are more than welcome to. Stay tuned for more details and pictures. REMINDERS: -Monday, Jan. 21st- NO SCHOOL
