Shalom Ulpanon Bet Families, Tu B’Shevat is almost here and there is so much to learn about this holiday! This week we are focusing on the process of planting. We started with a sprouting seed experiment. The children chose between two kinds of beans and placed them on cotton balls, then sprayed them with water. We will watch how they sprout which incorporates our USC studies of cause and effect. The children shared their hypothesis of what will happen and how long it will take. We also planted grass seed in a clear cup that has a photo of your child on one side. We will watch how the grass gives them a new hair style! This fun and important unit will come to a close next Monday when Avi’s mom, Rebecca, will come plant with us at school. Our Tu B’Shevat celebration is with the other Pre-K classes and we are providing grapes, raisins and dried plums. Thank you to Sharon, Lielle’s mom for coming to the library and reading books to us. February we begin our new science unit on Dental Health Month! Next Friday, February 6th at 9:15 a.m. sharp, Shiley’s dad will come to discuss the importance of dental hygiene and we invite you all to join us. Smile moment in Room 1- the children brought up a topic about how when they come to school they say good bye with a smile so the parents go off to work feeling happy! They felt very proud. “Share and Tell” our next learning unit is math and shapes. We also be focusing and recognizing numbers 1-10, for next Wednesday “share and tell” please bring a picture that contains number of items (5 hearts, 3 children, etc.). Shiley, we miss you! She has been on vacation all week! Reminders: Lilah special Shabbat is on Friday 2/6/15 Avi will bring us special snack the week of February 2.
