Shalom Ullpanon Bet families,
We had a great, festive, and exciting week while celebrating Israel’s 67 Birthday- Yom Ha’Atzmaut. We turned cooking into science and made falafel. We soaked dried garbanzo beans for a day, and then we groud the beans with a mixer; your child will be happy to share with you the list of ingredients. On Wednesday we had our own celebration in the classroom. The children recited a blessing for Israel and sang songs. We are very proud of how well the children can sing Hatikvah- the Israeli national anthem. Rabbi Knobel and Marilyn were our special guests as well. For dessert we had a Magen David cake that the children got to decorate. Thank You to Avi’s grandma for baking this amazing cake and for all of the decorations. Ulpanon Bet friends know so much about Israel. They know the capital of Israel and a special place called Ha’Kotel (the Western Wall), that it is part of Beit Hamikdash. Each child made their own Kotel and expressed a very nice prayer for us to write down for them. We also made Israeli flags! Ulpanon Bet cut the stripes and glued a Magen David (Star of David) onto the paper. We painted additional flags to be taken home. We continued the celebration with all the Pre K classes. We had a Shuk- market. The children visited different stations and were able to buy goods at each station: Israeli salad, hummus and pita, and dessert. They used Israeli money for each station to purchase the items of their choice.. Kabalat Shabbat was also in the spirit of Israel’s Birthday. It was fun! Thank you to all who brought food items for the celebrations. Reminders: Lielle special Shabbat May 1. Healthy snack Monday April 27. Shabbat Shalom and have a wonderful week.
