Shalom Ulpanon Bet Families,
This week we celebrated the Pre-K Seder; this was a beautiful and joyful event. Our Ulpanon Bet Pharaohs were singing songs they learned in class. Thank you for your contributions to the Seder - yummy food, set-up and the lively participation with your kids, singing and celebrating. We started the week with a beautiful whole school Havdalah service in the synagogue led by Rabbi Josh with Barak on the guitar. The children learned that when Shabbat ends we separate it from other days by celebrating Havdalah (separation) and singing blessings. In class we continued to explore and learn the many Passover traditions. We learned the 10 plagues in a simple way that the children could relate to. Then we learned the meaning of the word “Pesach” - that when the Egyptians experienced the 10 plagues, those plagues passed over the Jewish houses. We are singing the four questions every day in class and discussing the 4 answers as to how this night is different from all other nights. Thank You to Shannon, Emma’s mom, for coming to read us: “A Sweet Passover” by David Newman, and making Matzah brie with us. The children had the choice of putting sugar and cinammon, apple sauce and/or maple syrup on top. It was so yummy! We continue to welcome you all to the classroom anytime you are availabel to help. We can always use an extra set of hands to help with projects, or to lead your own project if you would like. On Friday we searched for Chametz (a hidden Pitas, bread, cookies..) in the classroom and learned the Mitzvah of “Bioor Chametz.” Rabbi Josh taught us the blessing for this Mitzvah and later we pretended to burn the Chametz. On Friday we had Science lab and learned about Human Body we learned: Heart pumps blood through body and that the Lungs help us get oxygen to blood. We got to see the Skelton parts we saw the stomach and learned that food digested in and nutrients and through body and intestines. Reminders:
Shabbat Shalom, Chag Sameach and wishing you a wonderful Spring Break! Talia and Meirav
