Dear Parents, What a busy and engaging week it's been. We spent the week talking about Thanksgiving and the Native American culture. The children became more familiar with Native American Art and created some of their very own. They started off by making necklaces with different beads and pieces of leather. Their attention span and focus was put to the test as they created these works of art. We talked to the children about what type of necklace they wanted to make, what pattern will they choose, and what materials they would need. By answering these questions, the children developed better planning and problem-solving skills. The benefits of beading improve fine motor skills, visual perception, and visual motor and cognitive skills. Your children took time and effort while doing this project and most of all felt a sense of accomplishment when their necklace was complete. This was a wonderful activity that offered the children freedom of self-expression, camaraderie with their friends, and just plain fun, fun, fun! The children had a wonderful opportunity when they went to the Music Lab to participate in a Drum Circle with Maestro. Drumming is an excellent way for children to learn self-awareness, listening skills, coordination, and patience. They were all engaged as they followed different patterns, and paid attention to directions that were given to them. It was a special time together and we are very proud of them. After music we took a walk up to the new grass field where we played "Red Light, Green Light," and "Duck, Duck, Goose." What a great open space for the children to run, play, and participate in fun games. Shabbat was enjoyed by all, and thank you to the Scoville family for joining us and making the day more memorable. We hope you were able to stop by the Holiday Boutique and find some special goodies. Have a terrific weekend!
