Dear parents of room 20,
What a fun filled week we had in room 20! The week started off busy with our Havdalah service as a whole school. The new cantor, Cantor Emma, was able to sing with Rabbi Josh and Jen the songs to bring in the good and peaceful week ahead. After that we had music with teacher Andrew. Andrew brought various music instruments for the children to use which they love, such as the scarves and bells. The children were able to enjoy the new playdough that was made fresh this week, using candles, such as those in the hanukkiah, to make imprints and shapes. They were also able to use new stamps that have letters on them along with the candles in the playdough to increase their fine motor grasps and strengthen their pre-writing skills. A favorite of the children, our fine motor “feeding the animals” game with tongs was out this week and we always love seeing how engaged they get with our classroom toys. They also got to have their turn with the big yellow school buses this week that have so many different types of people that go inside. Varying ages, skin color, hair color and clothing allows the children to see the diversity in our toys that they see in the world every day. We got to take stencils of dreidels and paint them all over our classroom mirror this week using different sized and shaped brushes and rollers. We used silver, blue and yellow. The children were able to discover on their own that mixing the colors creates green, continuing our understanding of primary and secondary colors. We have quite a few of the children’s Hanukah artwork pieces decorated around the classroom so please feel free to take a look around when you drop your child off and see what they have accomplished. We also loved having David as our Shabbat boy this week and having his family join us for our class services and going to Temple as well. Reminders: Tot Shabbat- tonight Our classroom Hanukah party is on Wednesday December 14th and parents are invited to join us. Also, we would like to send a reminder about class beginning at 9am. Due to fun activities that we have planned for the children, it can be challenging to say goodbye when we are transitioning to another area or part of our day. Please do your best to arrive at 9am as it is in your child’s best interest to…. 12/16- early dismissal. We will be out at 12pm.
