Dear parents of room 20,
We had quite the busy week here at Wise School. We began the week by celebrating David’s 3rd birthday! Teacher Andrew sang songs and we used his large parachute to take turns in the middle and get pulled around. The children had so much fun. We have been exploring new initial sound puzzles with pieces related to different letters of the alphabet. We got class pets as well this week! There are four caterpillars that are currently in their chrysalises and will soon be butterflies. We will take them as a class to the garden and release them. The children have expressed their interest in caterpillars and butterflies over the past few weeks so we have developed discussions and art projects related to these subjects. Continuing our exposure to shapes, children chose between circles, triangles, squares and rectangles. They applied bright, spring-colored paints to the shape, reviewed their colors, placed it in a plastic bag and used their fine motor skills to move the paint around. We also had the doctor kits out this week for imaginative play and it was so wonderful to watch the children interact with one another and form friendships. Playing doctor often requires a doctor and a patient, even sometimes nurses and assistants, so it gives the students many opportunities to interact with their peers. During our slightly rainy day on Wednesday, we combined with the classroom next door to play games and have a dance party. The children also helped mix cornstarch and conditioner to create a playdough-like material that they can manipulate. Thank you so much to the mommy’s and grandma’s who spent time with us this week and came to our all school Shabbat. We want to thank Liv’s family for bringing our challah and for being our wonderful Shabbat family this week. Reminder: There is no school Monday May 29th- Wednesday May 31st. Shabbat Shalom, Marloes, Michelle and Tatiana Friday, May 19th- BEAT BUDS Tot Shabbat. Be sure to RSVP!!
