We have been very busy continuing to talk about and sing songs for the holiday of Purim. The children enjoyed playing with castles, knights and horses on the rug this past week. With these toys, they imagined and expressed their ideas of how the story of Purim looked. It also gave the children another venue in which to recall the information they have been learning about over the past couple of weeks.
The children were so engaged as they watched the castle of Shushan go up on the wall with Vashti, Esther, Haman, Mordechai, and Achashverosh and then loved adding decorations to it. They have also enjoyed making groggers and decorating their own individual crowns. During circle time we talked about ways to celebrate Purim and that we were going to be baking special cookies shaped like a triangle, just like Haman’s hat that are called Hamantashen. The children are excited to taste and bake Hamantashen next week. We enjoyed a quiet Shabbat in the classroom. While in Temple we enjoyed singing songs with director Jen and Rabbi Sari. Now that the weather has gotten better we enjoyed walking over to the Witzman woods yard after Temple where the children played on the climbing structure as well as explored the other areas. Shabbat Shalom T & T
