This was a wonderful and short week. We took a class trip to see the “Hair Fairies”. Everyone did very well and we got an all clear. Please remember to continually check your child’s hair every day over the next couple of weeks and remember that if your child has long hair, he or she should wear it up at school. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact the school nurse.
After the rain this weekend we decided to see how all of our flowers and seeds were doing. The children noticed sprouts coming from the carrots, parsley and radishes. They were so excited to see the vegetables growing just like they are. Some of the children even made predictions on how long it will take the plants to grow, be picked and tasted. The children also wanted to try to plant other fruits and vegetables so that they can taste them all. During our group discussion, we talked a little bit about where the food we grow comes from. Farms soon became a new topic in our classroom. To enhance this learning, we provided the children with farms and farm animals, farm puzzles and games. Two of the favorites were farm sorting and farm sequencing. Another highlight of the week was a snail that Joelle found in the garden. While we were checking on the growth in our garden, Joelle happened upon a tiny baby snail. All the children from room 23 and room 22 were very interested in our new little friend. They watched as it crawled up and down the bucket and used its antenna to see and feel its way around. The children tried to give him a name but they were not able to decide which name they liked best. “Shelly” and “Slimy” are on the list. We are hoping to find him again next time we play and dig outside. Shabbat Shalom, Courtney, Ari and Cindy
