This week at school the children were as busy as bees. We continued learning about apples. During circle time the children sorted all the different types of apples that they brought to school. Sorting teaches children to notice details and helps children form categories such as color, size and shape. It also helps children build a number sense and concepts of more and less.
We also learned more about the Shofar. Over the past couple of weeks we have heard the shofar in temple, outside in the yard and during our holiday celebrations. During one of our group times the children used their senses to explore many different types and sizes of shofarot. Some were small and smooth and others were larger and rough. The children were able to use their new vocabulary to describe what the saw, felt, smelled and heard. We the used this information and created a large Shofar for the class. Shabbat Shalom Courtney and Cindy
