We hope everyone had an easy fast and had a good Yom Kippur with friends and family. We had a special music time with Andrew and our friends in room 22 in the Sukkah. Research shows that children who are immersed in music do better in reading and math when they start school, are better able to focus and control their bodies, and have higher self-esteem. The children also learned about the holiday of Sukkot. During circle time we discussed the structure of a Sukkah and introduced some of our favorite Sukkot tunes. On our way to music, we took a Sukkah walk around campus to count how many Sukkah's we have. We found four, and each was a little bit different from the next. The children really enjoyed looking, feeling and smelling the wood, branches and decorations. During our time in the Sukkah, teacher Hannah shook the Lulav and Etrog and explained the meaning of each part and how it is also like us. The palm branch is like the spine, the myrtle branch is like the eyes and the willow leaves are like the mouth. The children also had a chance to shake the Lulav and Etrog themselves as we said the blessing for Sukkot. Please come to the classroom to look at the amazing Sukkot creations that were made by the children as well as some cute pictures. Shabbat Shalom, Courtney and Cindy Reminders-
