This week was such a fun filled and exciting week. We began learning about the festive holiday of Hanukkah! During circle time we began to discuss the different symbols we see during this holiday and all of the special traditions such as: eating latkes, playing the dreidle game, and lighting the Menorah. Now that the Hanukkah celebration has begun in room 23 the children have been busy working on a giant Hanukkiyah to decorate our classroom wall!
Each day our friends in room 22 have been joining us for circle time to tell the story of Hanukkah. Building community and learning how to be a part of a community is a huge part of the Discoverer’s cirriculum. This teaches the children that they are now 1 part of a bigger picture and their behavior not only effects themselves but everyone that is a part of their community. After hearing the hanukkah story some of the children even rebuilt the Temple out of blocks. Building helps the children learn how to problem solve, and how to create and re-create patterns. The children have also been practicing all of the Hanukkah blessings in preparation of our Hanukkah party. *REMINDERS* - Hanukkah party December 13th @ 11:30 (for children and parents) - December 15th 12:00 dismissal - Winter Break December 16th - January 1st - School resumes January 2nd Shabbat Shalom, Cindy and Courtney
