We can't believe it is almost our last week of school! Time has flown by, and we are so sad that we have just a few days left.
In the beginning of the year, we found ourselves guiding the curriculum by putting out materials we thought would be interesting to the class. We chose art materials, carpet toys, manipulatives, outdoor play activities and books we thought could benefit your child's growth and the maturation of the class as a whole. As the year has progressed, we found the children steering our curriculum more and more. Our emergent curriculum takes into account your child's interests and discoveries, and everything we do in our classroom is inspired by the children. Some of our favorite activities have come from your children's imaginations: playing hide and seek dinosaurs on the yard, putting on shows, building the tallest tower possible, searching for treasures in the sand, discovering how different paint colors mix together. This week the class came up with a whole new game: giving presents. Liam and Vivi decided that it was a "special day," and so we took out tissue paper and wrapped up all of our blocks. We told our friends to close their eyes and count to three, and then open them and unwrap the surprise. The presents included lollipops, shoes, massagers, bracelets, rings, microphones, telephones, candy, swimming pools and jacuzzis. We called our mommies, daddies, brothers and sisters on our new telephones and told them how our day was going. These plain foam blocks became delightful surprises just by wrapping them in tissue paper. Every single friend participated in the game and we had a blast. When we allow kids to run with their imaginations, they come up with the most fun and interesting things. The theme of presents seems appropriate for these last few days. This year has been absolutely wonderful, and your children truly are gifts. We are so grateful you have entrusted us with your children this year. It has been a pleasure working with each and every one of them. Reminders: Tot Shabbat is June 1 in Wise Woods- RSVP is required. Our last day of school is Wednesday, June 5.
