Hello Room 24 Parents, It is wonderful to be back and to see all the smiling faces of your children again! Even thought it was a short week, we had a lot of fun being back together. We enjoyed circle time together, and we are continuing patterning, sorting and small motor development on the tables. On the carpet we had big, soft foam blocks- the children were building castles and other tall structures. Building is a wonderful, fun way to develop large motor skills, exercise the imagination, and cooperate with others! On Thursday, we did our weekly cooking activity. This week we made organic brownies. The children enjoyed smelling the batter and mixing all the ingredients. It was especially exciting to crack the eggs. The math skills each child is mastering while cooking helps them understand ‘part’ ‘whole’ and other fractions. They gained such self-esteem, and took pride saying “Look, I made brownies” and “those are my brownies.” Seeing the finished product also helped them to understand how scientifically things change from liquid to solid. Each child took home some brownie pieces to share with their family, we hope you all enjoyed them. Please look at the photo packets that were sent home on Thursday. All orders must be done online. We will be retaking our class photo so everyone will be included on March 22nd. This is the make-up picture day.
