Dear Parents, We enjoyed Music with Andrew where “played out” the Passover story with songs, singing “Bang Bang Bang Hold Your Hammer Low,” “Oh Listen King Pharaoh” and “One Morning” to name a few. We marched around the room with Andrew using wooden sticks, clapping them together, and enjoyed dancing around pretending to be leaving Egypt and asking King Pharaoh to let us go. We talked about Passover and the mean King Pharaoh who didn’t want to let the Jewish people go, to which the children responded, “no no no I will not let them go.” They especially loved when we would sing the “One Morning” song because they got to hop all over the carpet like little frogs and they thought it was so silly that there were frogs all over Pharaoh’s head and bed. Thank you to for helping make our Seder so beautiful and meaningful. It is so nice to have your support, and to hear all the beautiful music that we make together. A special thank you to Jonathan, Josiah’s dad, for helping to lead our Seder. We loved the special appearance by Moses, who came to help us sing “Oh Listen King Pharaoh.” We spent time in the room next door, building and stacking with the Imagination Playground blocks, working together to make tall towers, using our imagination to make rocking chairs and other creative ideas. We used the little covered walkway, the corridor directly next to the pool, to run up and down during the rainy days, and we had races on the tricycles. The children loved to run back and forth down the long corridor and had to work on their waiting skills when the tricycles and rocking horses were in use by someone else. We did some various movement dances with the friends in the other two First Step classes, like skipping, hopping, jumping, twirling (like a dreidel) etc. when the music told us to do so. The song also helped working on color recognition, by saying stop if you are wearing a certain color which made the children need to focus on their clothes. The children helped each other with their colors if they needed help. The children enjoyed going on a “Bear Hunt” as well, acting out the song, and trying not to be scared of the bear. Thank you to Meirav and Shoshi, the PreK Hebrew immersion teachers, who gave us what was left of their dough, so our children could roll out, flatten, and poke holes in dough balls to make their own matzah to take home and taste. It was a fun experiment to try to flatten the dough and use the forks to poke holes all over it. The children asked why we needed to make it flat and we talked about how when the Jewish people left Egypt, their bread didn’t have time to rise and that is why we eat Matzah on Passover. They loved being able to make their own matzah. We had a beautiful Shabbat service with Ditza and Rabbi Sari. Shabbat Shalom, Gali, Erika and Debbie Reminders: Spring Break begins on Monday, March 26th and school resumes on April 9th. Wishing you a peaceful break and a Happy Passover.
