Art, play dough, music, story time, cooking, indoor and outdoor play - it's been a great week in Room 24.
We have had beautiful warm weather this week and our friends really enjoyed their time outside. One of their favorite outdoor activities is playing in the sand. They like making sand cakes, birthday cakes, digging, mixing, pouring water, hiding toys and finding them, and sometimes even throwing sand. As your children play in the sand, they are learning important skills. Sand play encourages socialization, communication, sharing ideas, sharing space, and when playing in a group, it encourages taking turns. They are learning concepts like full/empty, wet/dry, and heavy/light. They are learning about texture - rough/smooth and using their fine motor skills as they pour and dig in the sand. They are also learning that throwing sand is not okay - friends don't like it and it doesn't feel good. It's amazing, how much our children learn in the sandbox while playing. Have a great weekend and Shabbat Shalom, Sue and Judy
