We started our week by baking a cake in honor of Tu B'Shevat. We poured, measured and mixed the ingredients together. In addition to having fun, our friends also learned many important things; such as math skills, counting, measuring, more than and less than. As we bake, they are developing their fine motor skills by pouring and mixing and also developing their social skills by working together, and taking turns. After baking, we put candles in our cake and sang Happy Birthday to the trees in English and Hebrew and Farsi. It was really a fun activity, as well as, a great learning opportunity. The cake was also quite delicious and was enjoyed by all.
This week we also did some interesting and unique art projects. The children are enhancing their creative abilities and developing longer attention spans at the art table. We painted on bubble wrap paper and also on cardboard. Our friends are squeezing the paint out of the bottles. This is a great exercise in helping your child develop a variety of fine motor skills which helps in developing good hand strength, which is important for future writing skills. We hope our friends that are not feeling well - get better soon! We miss you at school. Shabbat Shalom to all! Marcela and Judy
