Happy Birthday to the Trees! In honor of Tu B'Shevat - Jewish Arbor Day, our friends in Room 25 have been exploring plants in our classroom and talking about fruits that grow on trees. This week was all about fruits and trees! We talked about a variety of fruits that grow on trees. We discovered that red apples, green apples, pears, oranges, grapefruits, avocados and bananas grow on trees. We played a game with the children "Does this grow on a tree?" Our friends were really good at recognizing the fruits that grow on trees.
The children painted with earth colors this week - brown and green. Some friends painted with brushes, while others used their hands. The children are working together and individually to create beautiful art. They are learning to develop their imagination and creativity. They are learning the names of colors and also how to make new colors. They are practicing their fine motor skills, critical thinking skills and also their pre-writing skills. Best of all, they are learning to share and cooperate with each other. We also planted lima beans and are checking each day to see if they are sprouting. And finally, we sang happy birthday to the trees! It was a fun week of exploring and learning so many new things! February 5th is Father's /Grandfather's week at school.
