The children used their five senses to experience the holiday of Passover. They tasted matzah in a few different ways. Some liked it plain, others with cream cheese spread on it. And still others enjoyed spreading tomato sauce, cheese and mushrooms on matzah to create a matzah pizza!
They sliced celery and carrots and dropped them in a pot. Then they formed matzah balls in varying shapes to create matzah ball soup. We even cut some parsley from our garden and added it to the soup for some bright Spring color. When the soup was complete, we shared it with another class and some children even asked for a second matzah ball! The Passover story was retold on a flannel board and songs were incorporated in to the story. There were Passover songs about frogs jumping on the Pharoah’s bed and a lovely song about a river to remind us of the baby Moses. We finished the story each time with the song “Dayenu”. The children used frogs in paint to stamp out a placemat to be used at our Practice Seder. They painted a pyramid and created a desert complete with snakes and frogs! Reminders: Our Practice Seder is Wednesday, March 25 at 11am. Parents are welcome and we ask that you please, make alternate arrangements for siblings. We want you to be able to truly enjoy this special, seder with your child. Please bring non-perishables any time before the 25th, and any perishable food that morning. Thank you to all our parents for your participation. Please replenish your child’s extra clothing box as we find we are running low on socks, underwear and clothes. Last day of school before Spring Break is Friday, March 27. School resumes on April 13.
