This week we talked about the holiday of Thanksgiving in relation to being thankful for our family and friends.. We talked about about how thankful we are to play together, have snack together, sing and have story time together. During circle time, we asked our friends, "What are you thankful for? Their responses were heartwarming. Several friends said their "siblings names, my mommy, my daddy, my shoes, my clothes, food." We will be focusing on family, friendships and being thankful from now until Thanksgiving. Sharing the spirit of gratitude with your children will help them appreciate their family and friends. Talk to your little ones about what you are thankful for and ask them what they are thankful for. A favorite part of our day in Room 25 is circle time. We gather together to share information, sing songs, do flannel stories and always end our day by holding hands and singing “Shalom Chaverim.” As we sit together in a group we practice taking turns, speaking, listening and being respectful to others. It’s sometimes hard to wait until your animal is called as we do “Brown Bear, Brown Bear.” It also hard when you don’t get the animal that you had hoped for. Yet, our friends are learning valuable lessons. They are learning to be patient and learning that maybe next time they will get what they were hoping for. Recently, we started singing about what are friends are wearing. We go around the circle and each friend chooses what he or she would like to sing about. Initially they all sang about their shoes, now they are singing about bunny shirts, striped shirts, hats, bows, no shoes, black shoes, boots, pants. They feel so proud of themselves! And we are so proud of them! REMINDERS: Daditude is this Sunday, November 22nd from 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. Dads can enjoy the morning networking and chatting with each other while your children play on the Witzman Yard. Wednesday, November 25th is a Pupil Free Day. The EC teaching staff will be training further with our Occupational Therapist, Lindsay Astor Grant. Shabbat Shalom! Marcela and Judy
