We have continued our discussions and activities revolving around shapes. This is not only to help us when we begin to form letters, but it is helping us strengthen our fine motor skills when creating these shapes and cutting. We continued with circles to create leaves for our fall trees. We practiced cutting on a line to form the trunk of the tree. After we used circles to dip in paint, we practiced cutting on a line in the shape of a triangle. We made owls with these triangle shapes and glued them together and they are now in our classroom tree. Cutting skills and gluing these shapes together is a very important part of our growing process. We also created circles with a paintbrush on the easels to form pumpkins for Fall. This helps strengthen their muscles as well as form the shape of a circle by starting at the top. We had our first library visit to our school library. We talked about the rules and expectations for being in the library. We were lucky enough to have our first library mom come read us a couple books and then explore some new and interesting books we have in our library. We got to check out some Fall/Autumn books to take back to our classroom. We can’t wait to go back. This week one of our snacks was something we were able to make ourselves. The kids were excited when they walked in the room that morning to discover that they got to create their own pizza. They used a spoon to decide how much sauce they wanted, and then took pinches or even handfuls of cheese to top it off. We were very proud of how each child made their own, and once they were cooked in the oven they really enjoyed this snack. They said they even wanted to make these at home! Cooking with the kids is a lot of fun and we look forward to cooking more together in the future. Shabbat Shalom, Rachel and Linda Reminders: -Shabbat Child on Friday, November 2nd Asher.
