Dear Parents,
This week at school we practiced writing our names. Some of the children started and are close to mastering their writing lower case letters and and some are still working on the upper case. Your children are focused and are working very diligently and their inner pride shows from the smiles on their faces! They are so proud of their achievements. In music, Maestro showed us many instruments and let us play them. We played the violin, the guitar and many others. It was truly fun and the children pretended they were playing in a band – it was a sight to see! In addition to welcoming in our dads and grandpas this week, we explained to the group that our next holiday is Purim. We will start working on that very soon and have come up with a very, cool building project that they will love and you will love to see. Just a reminder that class pictures are next week, so get your outfits ready and have the kids bring their biggest smiles! Wishing you a wonderful weekend and Shabbat Shalom, Anne & Vera Reminders: -Gala: February 27, 7:00pm -School pictures: March 3rd 10:30 -Parent teacher conferences: March 16 and 17

Dear Parents,
It has been a short week here at school but we have been busy as ever. We started off our week talking about biographies. The children compared the difference between a biography and an auto biography. When writing an autobiography the person writing is writing their own story. We read both biographies and autobiographies to compare how they are written. The children then wrote their own autobiography and made a self portrait. On Wednesday, we were invited to join the President's Day celebration with the elementary school. In the temple we saw a band and sang songs about America. It was very nice. On Friday we went to project studio. The children got to learn about skyscrapers. The identified what kind of shapes can be found in a skyscraper and then they got to work in teams to build their own. Please remember to tell all Dads and Grandpas that we are saluting and celebrating them all week at school. They are invited to come in to school and spend a morning with your child. AND on Friday, February 26th is our Dads and Grandfather's special brunch and Shabbat starting at 10:00 a.m. in Z/H. Shabbat Shalom. Anne and Vera Reminders: -Father's & Grandfather's Week - February 22 to 26 -Father's & Grandfather's Brunch in ZH: Friday February 26, at 10 am -All school Sabbath: February 26, 11 am -February 27: Wise School Gala - Picture day: March 3, 10:30 am - Parent conferences: March 16 and 17 Dear Parents,
We have been having discussions about President's Day and what it means to be President. We have had pretend elections in the classroom, so the children get a feel how elections take place. We also went to visit Rabbi Josh in Plotkin chapel. He took the Torah out of the Ark and unrolled it. We saw that the Torah is very long, it is written in Hebrew letters and we use a "yad" to help us keep our place when we read from it. Rabbi Josh old us that the Torah is 3000 years old and it tells us stories about the Jewish people, stories about the holidays and rules about how the Jewish people should behave, like the Ten Commandments. On Friday we went to the Art Lab and the children worked on an art project for Father’s and Grandfather’s week and learned new drawing techniques. It was lots of fun and the children loved being in a new room.
