What a week !!!!
Our week started off by baking hamentashen. The children chose there fillings and made their triangles with the dough. It was lots of fun. It was even more fun to eat them!!!! Then we filled our Purim baskets. Each child got to choose what to put in their baskets and got it ready to take home. We then made our graggers and spent some time using materials to create an exciting Purim gragger. It was so nice to see the children come to school in their amazing costumes on Thursday and Friday. First, we got to celebrate Purim with the elementary school and it was so much fun. The children had a great time shaking their graggers every time they heard Haman's name and participating in the Purim parade. We also had a dance party with Leora Orevi who teaches dance to the elementary school. The fun was not over yet! On Friday we celebrated again during Shabbat and the teachers put on a play to tell us the story of Purim. We were also invited to visit the kindergarten classroom and walk through the habitats that they have created. The children were amazed with what they saw and it gave them an inside peak at what they might be doing next year. It has been an extremely happy week here at Wise school. Dear parents,
This week has all been about getting ready for Purim. The children now know the whole story of Purim and are able to give details about the characters. They are having a great time putting on costumes. We have transformed our library corner into a dress up area with dresses, jewelry, crowns, capes as well as the castle the children made. The children also finished making their characters and each told us why they chose who were. They identified with one of their traits or something they did. They spent a long time on representing the details of their attire and characteristics. We have also been working on our journals and we are amazed at the details of the story the children remembered. Next week we will be celebrating Purim here at school. On Thursday March 24 we are invited to the elementary school Purim celebration. It is at 9:15 and the children can dress up. Parents are invited to join us in the fun. Friday, March 25 the children can also come to school in costume as we will celebrate Purim during our shabbat services. Shabbat Shalom Anne and Vera Reminders: -Purim Carnival: Sunday March 20 -March 24: Purim celebration 9:15 -April 9: spring musical Dear parents,
This week we continued learning about the story of Purim. The children now know all the characters and what role they played in the story. The children took turns acting out the story and being the different characters. The children also had the opportunity to select a character from the story and make a representation of it. They could choose between Queen Vashti, Queen Esther, Mordechai, Haman and Kind Ahashverosh. Each child had a specific reason for picking their character. Some picked Queen Vashti because she stood up for herself, others picked Mordechai because he took care of his niece. When making their characters, the children paid really close attention to details and really tried to make the characters look the best they could. On Thursday we had the visit from Rabbi Josh who told us the story of Adam and Eve. The children also learned the days of the week in Hebrew. On Friday we went to the science lab and learned about the human body. Shabbat shalom. This week the class has been working on a building project. First we found empty boxes and we painted them. Then we had to come up with a plan to make a castle. The children had many suggestions on how to make the castle and all together we worked on putting it together. When the castle was finished all the children made decorations. We then went to the yard and it was time to play in the castle. Some were the princesses and others were the guards, making sure the castle was not broken. This castle came about because we are learning about the story of Purim. The story is about Queen Esther and her Uncle Mordehai and how they saved the Jewish people of Shushan. They lived in a castle and so we decided to make our own. The children are also working on their fine motor skills weaving baskets for mishloach manot. On Thursday, everyone looked so nice for picture day!!!!
