We may only have a handful of days left in Room 9, but we have been very busy working hard and playing games together. We continue to take a link off of our chain and they keep surprising us about how much they remember from what we have learned throughout our year together.
We continue to play games for letter recognition. We were even surprised about how much they knew when they needed to identify an upper case letter and match it to the lower case letter. They are extremely proud of themselves when they match a letter and their friends have been really excited for them as well. We love seeing how much they have grown this year. We asked them what they wanted to be when they grow up. We can’t wait to see them fight fires, teach young children, watch them dance and sing, see what amazing inventions they create, protect the community and become a mommy or a daddy. This is what they all said. “When I grow up I want to be a daddy. I want to work with a drill and a hammer. When I grow up I want to be a pilot like Amelia Earhart. She was the first pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I want to fly to China. When I grow up I want to be a Doctor. I will help people like my mommy. When I grow up I want to be a fire fighter so I can save people. I also want to be a soccer player because I love soccer. When I grow up I want to be a chef and I want to cook eggs and food and anything. I’ll work in a restaurant. When I grow up I want to be a mom because I want to have kids. I don’t want to have a job. When I grow up I want to be a Dentist. I will clean teeth and fix them. I will be a good Dentist! When I grow up I want to be a mommy and a Scientist. I will study space. When I grow up I want to be a mommy and take care of kids. When I grow up I want to be a singer and a dancer. When I grow up I want to be a teacher. I want to teach Pre-K! When I grow up I want to be a mommy because it’s fun being a mommy and having kids! When I grow up I want to be a fireman because I want to help people if they have a fire. When I grow up I want to be a policeman. I want to talk on a walkie talkie to another policeman.” They then sat and drew a self-portrait of themselves having this job they said they wanted to do when they grow up. Wow! We were amazed at the amount of detail in all of their drawings. We have had all Pre-K rehearsals and we cannot wait for June 7th! We enjoyed our last Shabbat together as a class. They have learned so much this year and we cannot begin to explain how proud we are at how much of the blessings they know now.
