As we are getting closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, more and more conversations are arising in Room 9! We went on an adventure and pretended like we were Native Americans. We immersed ourselves in nature while sitting around the Tipi and the fire we created. We listened to a story as the beautiful fall leaves surrounded us. We all closed our eyes while we imagined what life would have been like long ago before there were houses and grocery stores. We asked the children questions about how the Native Americans found food and water and how they survived. As they talked, we hid their snack around the trees and boulders and they went searching for the food as the Native Americans had to in their time. This week we had a shelter in place drill. We discussed with the class beforehand what would be happening and the procedures at our school. We had a very serious conversation about why we have these drills and why they are important.
