How to fit so much into so little time, but when you have active 3 and 4-year old children we can make it work. Welcome to Shushan the land where a Jewish girl's dream of being a Queen can come true. We have started using masks and the children are acting out the story of Purim. When Haman's name is said the energy and boos can be heard and felt all over the school. Each of the children will of course have a turn to play a part. Don't be surprised if the King, (a name that is a mouthful for all of us to say), is a girl or Esther is a boy. They don't mind at all and think this is funny.
The children are refining their fine motor skills this week. We have been working with beads and glue. Picking out the first letter of their names they are learning to control squeezing the glue bottles, following the lines with the glue and placing one bead at a time on the glue line. Each letter is unique to your child. Come and look next week on our wall. They are hanging on another fun motor skill project; stamping with animal shape stamps. We used small and large stamp pads and learned out putting pressure on the stamps as we pressed them on to the paper. A little pressure and the stamp may not show up or the entire animal may not be seen. The children also spent time this week counting objects and matching them up with the corresponding number. We used out muffin pans, mini colored muffins and scoopers. Lots of work, but lots of fun. Friday Shabbat Anja and Aitana's families joined us to celebrate. We baked our challah in different colors for Purim. The children also got the opportunity to shop for fruit salad. We used our Tzedakah money to shop and support Beit Issie. Next week we are baking Hamantashen and putting together Mishloach Manot baskets, (gifts of food or drink that are sent to family, friends and others. We will be distributing them around the Temple and School, using recycled tissue boxes. Please remember to send in empty tissue boxes by Monday.
