Rainy week a head so we prepared for the worst. Our Seder was moved to the Annex rooms by the sanctuary. It was lovely having all of us together celebrating as community.
We began the week with frogs, wild beasts, hail and flying insects invading our story of Passover. The children all participated by tossing the plagues into our circle; lots of giggles accompanied the tossing. After the story we all joined the breakfast club and sat around the table making Matzah Brie. The children had fun crunching up the matzah with their fists. A lot of crumbs on the floor and the table. Not all the children wanted to taste it, but those that did enjoyed it. Even so of the teachers indulged and ate with the children. On Tuesday we had a lot of fun in the Library. Mandana, (Anderson's mom), joined us and read 2 stories to the children; Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri, (A personal favorite of Teacher Fern's) and Part time Princess by Deborah Underwood and Cambia Evans. At snack the children had Macaroons. Like the Matzah Brie, some of them ate them up, others didn't want to taste them. The children have been working very hard on their Seder Plates and Miriam's Cups. This year all over the world has been a year of, "Empowerment for Women" and keeping with that theme we made Miriam Cups. The following link will provide a history and understanding of the importance Miriam, Moses' sister, to the story of the Exodus. https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/miriams-cup/ Wednesday it poured ad poured but that doesn't stop us from learning and playing. We painted rock frogs, chopped apples for charoset and colored placemats for Passover. We also tossed our plagues into the circle while telling the story of Passover. Room 12 and we opened the sliding doors and we danced together and practiced our Seder songs as a group. After that our class gathered around on the carpet and did a quiet meditation. Listening to the sound of rain as we took deep cleansing breaths helped to relax our bodies and minds. Thursday was our Seder. Staying dry was the first challenge that effected this group of wandering Jews. Afterwards we celebrated our freedom and the freedom of all those that came before us. We all stand as one at Sinai, each of us as if we were there ourselves. Bashan a Haba B'Yerushalim. We always finish off the week with Shabbat and the celebrate our first commandment to keep the 7th day holy. Room 12's idea of holy is to be together as a community and a family. We welcomed Blake's family into our Shabbat. Blake celebrated turning 4 on Monday. He is not a cake eater, so we had a French Fry party. Each of us are unique in our tastes, but we are all the same within. Shabbat Shalom and have a sweet and restful Passover and Spring Break. We will see everyone on April 9th, Ren, Fern and Julia
