Dear Ulpanon Aleph Parents,
Our week began with an EC wide Simchat Torah service led by Jen Shankman and Rabbi Sari. There were multiple Torot throughout the sanctuary and we had the chance to march past them and give each one a kiss. There was also a Torah that was opened so the children could see the words written inside as they walked by. This week we worked on the color yarok (green). We gave the children an opportunity to collage using green objects, working on their fine motor skills. We made our own Torah scroll in the classroom, that the children crafted by using their fine motor skills to put glue on butcher paper to glue various Shana Tovah pictures and words and they sprinkled some glitter on it as well. We finished talking about Sukkot and Simchat Torah. Rabbi Sari also met the children in the sanctuary where the children got to see the Torot dressed in white. We opened up the Torah and Rabbi Sari looked with each child to show them the first letter of their name within the Torah. The children each held the yad (hand/the pointer finger) of the Torah which they learned is used to touch the scroll since we are not allowed to touch it with our fingers. The Torah has a simla (dress), chagoora (belt), rimon (pomegranate) and sharsheret (necklace). We rounded up the week with our weekly specialists Yoga with Cheryl and Music with Ditza and with Shabbat services. Reminders: 11:45 am dismissal on Thursday, October 31st and No school on Friday, November 1st for Parent Teacher Conferences. Shabbat Shalom, Mira, Miri and Gali
