Dear Parents,
This week was filled with fun activities! With Thanksgiving coming up, we had a theme this week of fall including foods, weather/nature, and turkeys. The students juiced oranges and shucked corn this week, both of which they really enjoyed and also strengthened their muscles. You can also see in some of the pictures that we went on a nature walk this week. The children got to go up to trees that had sap and see the colors and textures of different trees and leaves. With this wonderful weather, they truly enjoyed being outdoors and learning about the nature all around our campus. We introduced a few new toys this week, each of which taught the children something different. We brought out doctor toys that helped the students understand gentle/light touches with the tools, which helped with gentle and rough playing while outdoors. We also made a mixture of cornstarch and water with the fellow discoverers classes outdoors. This mixture, along with the fake sand that we had in the classroom, did a wonderful job of activating the children’s senses and got them describing how they felt. At home, you can review with your child some of this terminology such as rough, smooth, soft, and bumpy. Lastly, we made handprint turkey placemats that we know that you guys will love! The children will bring them home in time for Thanksgiving. Abby was Shabbat girl this week and it was so great having her lead the class in the prayers, she truly helps the other students remember the words to the blessings. It is her birthday next week so on Friday the kids got a little extra treat to celebrate. Lashelle and I wanted to give a particular thank you to those families who bought a book for our class from the bookfair! Thank you to Noah’s family who brought Colors, Owen’s family who brought Llama Llama Grandma and Grandpa, Hudson and Olive’s family who brough us Momo and Snap are not friends, Carter’s family who brough The Wonderful Things You Will Be, and Jordan’s family who brough us R is for Rocket. The children have been loving these books as we have been reading them all week! We have a few reminders to give you all. We will be starting tricycles after Thanksgiving break so please bring your child’s helmet when we come back to school on the 23rd or earlier. Daditude is this Sunday, November 22nd from 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. Dads can enjoy the morning networking and chatting with each other while your children play on the Witzman Yard. Wednesday, November 25th is a Pupil Free Day. The EC teaching staff will be training further with our Occupational Therapist, Lindsay Astor Grant. Our Thanksgiving friendship feast is on Monday the 23rd. Thank you to all who signed up to bring food. This feast is nor the children only, but our Hannukah party will include parents. If you have yet to sign up for a food to bring for the Hannukah party, the sign up sheet is right outside our front door. Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week! Shabbat Shalom! Best, Tatiana and Lashelle
