Room 12 had a fabulous week celebrating Hanukkah! We started off our week by learning to play dreidel. We learned about the four symbols, Gimel, Nun, He, and Shin. The children learned how each symbol has a different meaning while playing the game. For instance, Gimel means you get all of the gelt from the pile and Shin means you must put two of your own gelt pieces in the pile. We also finished up making our very own dreidels and hanukkiyahs.
The children baked Hanukkah sugar cookies on Wednesday. They helped to melt the butter, mix the dough, roll out the dough, press cookie cutters into the dough and put them in the oven. All of the children were able to choose their own cookie cutter shape for their cookie such as a dreidel, hanukkiyah, and Jewish star. We decorated the cookies on Thursday morning for a treat at the Hanukkah party. The children practiced their fine motor skills by spreading a small amount of frosting on the cookie using a plastic knife. They chose various sprinkles to make their cookies unique and beautiful. We want to thank all of the parents for helping make our Room 12 Hanukkah party so special! We loved singing Hanukkah songs for you and spending time celebrating in our classroom. We wish you all a wonderful Winter Break filled with family, friends, warmth, love and celebrations. We also want to wish you all a happy and healthy New Year! It has been such a pleasure having your children in Room 12 for the past few months. We have seen such growth in only four months, and we cannot wait to see what the rest of our year has in store beginning in January! Thank you to the Bral’s for coming in and sharing our Shabbat with Room 12. Shabbat Shalom and have a great vacation, Mari & Aaliyah Shabbat Family Schedule: 1/6- Wynter 1/13- Noah 1/20- Mason 1/27- Kayden REMINDERS: 1/3- School resumes
