Dear Ulpanon Alef, This week, we took a walk around our campus collecting leaves of all shapes, colors and sizes. On the way back from our nature walk, we stopped to play on the big grass area around the Temple, which also has lots of natural scenery we could explore. We also discussed the colors we see during fall: red, orange, yellow, green and brown. Using those colors, we painted a gigantic piece of bark and glued the leaves we found while walking our campus. In addition to learning about fall colors, we focused on the color: blue (kachol). We painted using various shades of blue and then collaged blue items on top. During the week, we also introduced scissors. The children seemed to enjoy snipping the paper. We also had fun riding on tricycles during our bi-weekly Tricycle Express time. Thank you to all our friends who brought seeds and pumpkins to our class. Parent Reminders: PLEASE CUT HOT DOGS, GRAPES, OLIVES, SMALL TOMATOES… -Wednesday October 28- 12.pm. The children were playing with all their friends at the explorers yard. We had library, music time with Ditza and a great time with Brock too. We talked about Noah's Ark and we explained that we can find the story in the Torah. We read the book Noah’s Ark by Lucy Cousins and the children had the opportunity to build the Ark with blocks and play with the animals on the carpet. We worked on our color green (yarok) painting with green and gluing green materials. Please bring your children at 9, we are going to be starting our circle time at 9:15. Here are some reminders for next week: Asher and Rosie Shabbat Ema and Abba on Friday October 23. Have a great weekend Miri and Mira Ulpanon Alef Dear Parents, This week for Simhat Torah we visited the main Temple to show the children the different Torah scrolls that live in the Temple's ark. The children could see how heavy each Torah was however we felt it would be meaningful for them to experience the sanctity of our Jewish roots. We show the children all sizes of the Torah. The children had the opportunity to touch the Torah. While in the sanctuary, we sang our Torah holiday songs and took a lot of pictures beside the open ark and next to the Torah. During one of our art centers, each child made their own Torah using water color paints. We now have a new music component to our weekly schedule. Ditza Zakay will be coming to our classroom every Tuesday before lunchtime so that the class can sing special songs in Hebrew. We introduced the color yellow, tzhov, and reinforced our studies by using yellow paints for one art activity and by gluing yellow materials onto paper during another center time.. Here are some important reminders for next week: Please send your child's helmet, labeled. Also please sign the permission form in our classroom if you have not already done so. Library Guest Reader on October 13: Logan's mom, Rebeka Professional Development Day, on Friday, October 16 - school is closed Wishing you all a very meaningful Shabbat - Mira & Miri The children had a wonderful week. We dedicated this week to celebrating and learning about Sukkot. On the school grounds, we have three sukkot and we visited each and every one of them. We sang, danced and enjoyed snack inside the sukkah.
We incorporated the sukkah into our art project by having each child build their own sukkah using sticks, leaves and paper fruit. In addition, we introduced the holiday of Simchat Torah. The Torah wears a dress and a belt and is adorned with a crown. We also started teaching them the special Torah songs for this holiday and we'd love to know if you hear them singing them at home. Here are some reminders for next week: School is closed on Monday, October 5th in observance of Simchat Torah Shabbat Abba and Ema for Friday, October 9th are Asher and Rosie Bader.
