REMINDER: The WISE Temple Purim Carnival is this Sunday, February 25th, from 10:30-3:30.
Dear Ulpanon Bet Parents, The children arrived on Wednesday to discover the classroom beautifully decorated for Purim! The Armon (castle) from Shushan they had painted the previous week was up on the wall, framing the mini Purim cut-out characters they had decorated at home. The masks the children traced and painted are also displayed, with their words about why we wear costumes on Purim. In addition, the children were excited to see their baby pictures dressed as laytzanim (clowns). We played a game where each child had an opportunity to match a baby picture to a child in class. Though the guesses were not spot-on, they were very funny! We handed out ra’ashanim (groggers) to the children, and retold the story with the children shaking their groggers and calling out “boo” each time Haman’s name was said. They worked on their crowns and hand-held masks in preparation for next week’s Purim day at school. They also shared their words and a drawing about the Purim story for their Purim Journal pages. Our Ulpanon Aleph friends hosted us during our time with Rabbi Josh. The Rabbi shared the Purim story with the help of festive, decorated puppets. Both classes then sang Purim songs together. The kids had a blast during Music with Ditza! She had a special guest, a clown puppet named Boni-bonboni, who assisted her in singing songs and dancing with the children. Some of the Purim songs we enjoyed can be found at the following links:
On Friday, the children visited the Beit Issie Farmers Market (shuk). They had a great time purchasing and eating the fruits of their choice. Thank you so much to all of you for sharing the mitzvah of tzedakah with your children, and for contributing the food items for the market. Thank you to Sebastian Olshansky and his family for helping us usher in Shabbat. Reminders:
Shabbat Shalom! Shoshi and Meirav
