Today we completed our Inspire Kit and now we are using We Do 2.0 motors and programming to move the Inspire Model. In this model small blue and brown Lego pieces represent clean and dirty water and the Inspire Model represents some kind of water treatment device...we think!
Here's how it works: https://youtu.be/c_3vO6uWSnc We'll have some images and videos of ours as soon as we finish programming it. Today we learned about some interesting ways that communities interact with water. We learned about the PlayPump and how it was designed to help communities in Africa get access to clean drinking water.
www.playpumps.co.za/ We started to build our Inspire Kits. The Inspire Kit is part of our Aqua Adventure Challenge. Once it is built it will be a part of our model. The Inspire Kit video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=c_3vO6uWSnc Today was our first meeting and we learned the FLL Jr. Core Values, learned about the Aqua Adventure challenge and talked about what it means to be a good team mate. Here are the FLL Jr. Core Values that we learned about: 1. We are a team. 2. We do the work. 3. Our Coach helps us learn, but we find the answers ourselves. 4. We share experiences and discoveries with others. 5. We are helpful, kind, and show respect when we work, play, and share. We call this Gracious Professionalism. 6. We are all winners. 7. We have fun. We are good team members and we would like to share what our members think makes a good team member. Caleb is good at helping others and being there for others, Adam is a good builder, Bennett is good at building and is smart. Jayden is good at looking for good things and coming up with ideas. Jacob is good at building and engineering and Gavin is good at engineering. Today our build was to create a model that represented how each of us is a good team member. Team 1890 is meeting on a new day this year. We will be meeting on Mondays from 3:30 - 4:30 starting on September 25th. If you are a 6-10 year old interested in robotics, please contact Ms. Hoffman for more information.
