This week, we continued to talk about trees and the holiday of Tu B’Shevat. The children can relate to this holiday because trees are everywhere in their life! We notice the trees when we walk or play on our outdoor yard. They have explored plants by viewing them in books, with a magnifying glass and by their immediate environment everyday out on the yard. We talked about things that grow on trees and even about what animals make their home in trees. They have continued to add to the tree in our classroom using watercolors on coffee filters. They used cotton swabs the first day and then experimented with markers and water on day two. Both created different, but beautiful designs.
We took the children to a new yard where they could explore a different area. They loved walking across the balance beam, examining the garden, and running, running, running on the grass! Soon, we will be opening the gate to the Discoverers (N1) yard so that the children can become familiar with the children and equipment there. We feel that they are ready to play in a new environment that offers them more opportunities for large motor skills to develop and in addition, they will always be able to return to our yard to play. Shabbat Shalom! Sharon and Marcela
