As the unusually hot weather has not let up, the children have experienced water in many different ways. They have stood in or near a sprinkler and they have tasted the water that sprayed from it. They have poured water on themselves, and at times on a friend, but no one really complained because it was relief from the heat. As the holiday of Rosh Hashanah approaches, the children have been exposed using different senses. They have tasted apples and the sweetness of honey. They’ve used honey on crackers, cucumbers and right off of their fingertips! On our wall, you’ll see apples of all colors that the children painted with sponge applicators. They have all explored other classrooms and seem to feel quite comfortable moving from one to another. They are beginning to know the names of friends and teachers and enjoy looking at the photographs displayed on our walls. Many of the children now come to teachers for help and are beginning to play with one another. We have had a wonderful third week of school even with the high temperatures. It will soon begin to feel like Fall and we’re looking forward to jumping into a pool of crunchy leaves instead of water! Thank you for your help, cooperation and growing trust in your child’s teachers. Shana Tova, Sharon & Marcela RemindersSeptember 22 – Kathy/Special Snack
