Dear Parents, What a wonderful week we had! We continued our learning about Hanukkah. We told the story of Hanukkah using puppets. The children learned about the mean king Antiyochus who didn't want the Jews praying at the temple and the brave Maccabees who told him no! We used the story of Hanukkah to continue to work on our counting skills by counting the branches of the menorah and the candles from 1 to 9. We also worked on our Hebrew with the story. The children learned the word sevivon means dreidel and the menorah is called chanukiah. The children worked on their fine motor skills by spinning dreidels and working on their candle boxes (painting with brushes and gluing tissue papers and gems). Our wonderful specialists were also in the Hanukkah spirit this week. We sang Hanukkah songs and danced like dreidels with Mr. Marcos in music. We played drums to songs like "Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah" and "The Dreidel Song". In yoga we did Hanukkah poses. We became dreidels, the shemash, Macabee warriors, and gelt. We enjoyed celebrating hanukkah and having breakfast with you all. Thank you everyone for everything you brought and for our Hanukkah gifts! It is greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful and relaxing Hanukkah, winter break and a Happy New Years, Hannah, Sigalit, and Karen
