There are always great schools holidays like Hanukkah and Rosh Hashanah. We love how we celebrate the holidays. We sing and play games. On some holidays we get days off of school. We sometimes have huge parties in our classroom. Sometimes we get snacks like graham crackers and animals crackers. Sometimes we wear white clothes. Sometimes on Passover we eat matzot and blow out candles, also we sing songs like Light The Menorah. The principals are the best ever!
Stephen Wise Aquatic Team otherwise known as S.W.A.T is an organization that is designed to help kids of all ages improve their swimming skills. S.W.A.T teaches simple skills like how to dive off a block, how to streamline, and what to do during a swim meet. I am in S.W.A.T and my swimming skills and coordination improve every day that I come to practice. I am sure that anybody thats been on the team as long as me would say the same thing. In S.W.A.T you learn all four main strokes: breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle, and butterfly. S.W.A.T is a fun way to improve your swimming skills and get some exercise. Signing up for S.W.A.T is simple; just go on the website swatswimteam.com and register. After that you might want to get the proper equipment. Once you sign up, you will find out that meets are so exciting in S.W.A.T; we usually compete against a different team. Don't worry if you miss a swim meet, there will be plenty more. Sign up for S.W.A.T if you want to reach your goal of becoming an exceptional swimmer!
I am new at Wise and there is a lot to write about my new school. It is better than my other school and bigger. I made a lot of friends in a little time. The new school is better and big and comfortable. My favorite thing to do for recess is to play handball with my friends. I like to hit the ball hard. Every month for Monday Assembly, we go to the sanctuary. We sing a lot of songs, not like my other school. This school is better and funner than the other school! The lunches are okay and better than my other school We did not have tecnology and Macbook pros and a bin filled up of them. My favorite things are technology, sanctuary, singing and sports like basketball, soccer and pogo sticks. .The rabbis are really nice and I like to blow the shofar looooooooooud! - like the trumpet. My favorite Jewish holidays are Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. For after school activities I play violin. I got a new violin. I love the teachers, they are always cool and they teach faster than my other teachers even my violin teacher. Now I am talking about my math, integrated studies and reading teachers. My math teacher and reading teacher is Ms. Spielberg. She is really nice and and serious. My IS teacher and homeroom teacher is Ms. Hechtman. She is nice, too. We work a lot with her and it is fun for me to work a lot. I know not everybody likes to work a lot, but I do/ I hope none of the teachers are going to leave the school, because the teachers are really great - better than my other school's teachers.
Hi this is Tiffany Tavakoli!!!!! I am writing about girls basketball. I am soo excited to be a wildcat with Sabrina, Aly, Jaden Riley Golshan,Nataly Azizi,Gaby Soleimani,Natalia Nikkoo,Eliana Chasen,Tiana Yazdi,Gabby Melamed,Jessy Elfase, and Layla Kashfian. We are coached by an amazing and inspiring person named Coach Armstrong. He is tough and he is very tall. Just what you would expect from a basketball player. My coach taught me a lot of things. The team is working hard and this promises to be the best year ever! What we do at practice is we work on dribbling and work on inside shots and outside shots. We mostly work on defense and offense.Couch makes practice really fun and funny. He thought us burp the baby which means put the ball on your cheek so they will faul you on the head, arm, or hand.He also taught us how to boxout and how to dribble under your legs.At games Couch says”Remember what we did at practice and most importantly have fun!!!!”.I am so lucky to have a Couch that is REALLY REALLY REALLY good at basketball!!!!!As i said i am so bummed wildcat.I hope we have a great year!!!!!!!!!!
Sabrina: What are some of the new technologies at Wise School this year? Mrs. Weiser: Over the summer, we remodeled the 4th and 6th grade classrooms. We put in Apple TVs, new projectors, and new boards. This technology will help the students display their work while they are doing it. We added a laptop cart with 24 laptops for the 4th grade classes. Sabrina: Are there any new music updates? Mrs. Weiser: This year we purchased guitars and a software program to teach students how to play the guitar. The program is called Guitar Prodigy. Also, we bought a set of two timpani drums for our orchestra. Sabrina: Next year do you have anything in mind that you would like to change? Mrs. Weiser: We are planning for the construction of our Arts and Sports Pavilion at Hershenson Hall. We've raised about 1/2 of the funds and are excited about what it would mean for our school to have an indoor gym for basketball and volleyball, P.E., assemblies, and simchas. We are also planning for a new combined technology, engineering and art (TEA) space that could be transformational for our school. Sabrina: What is it like when you have to do a fire drill? Mrs. Weiser: The firedrill dates are all set for the entire school year, before we even start. It is a rule that we have one drill every month, and we have to report this to the fire department. We organize the classrooms and time every drill, which is part of our report. We also must have earthquake drills and lockdown drills every year. I work with a committee to plan the safety program for Wise School, and we also work with the Temple on this together. Sabrina: How did you guys come up with the name PAWS, and what was the first idea of it to be used for? Mrs. Weiser: Wise School wanted to make a behavior plan that was positive rather than a punishment. Jana went to a conference and learned about positive behavior. We meet with a group of teachers and came up with the idea of PAWS to find students who were being positive, appreciative, wise and safe. Then we had to come up with an example of what this looked like in classrooms, hallways, the yard, carpool, etc. The school really got into the program, and students now help coordinate the counting of the PAWS, the trophy assembly, and other parts of the program. Hi! My name is Ilai and i’m going to teach you a little bit about Minecraft! So If you haven’t heard we’re going to play Minecraft a bit this year! Also if you see me around school be sure to compliment me if this helps you! So here we go! You spawn in a world made out of blocks and you see trees so you go fist it and break it and then you get a block of wood Once you get that block of wood you wonder what to do with it, so you press ‘E’ and it opens your inventory! You also get an achievement Called, ”Taking Inventory” “Awesome!” You say. You see a crafting area and put the wood in there Boom! Wooden Planks pop up, you take them out and you also do it again, but this time spread out and you get a crafting table. Later you get more wood! Later you make sticks and get a wooden pickaxe. You then mine some stone and get cobblestone then you make a stone pickaxe and enter a cave… You see this ferocious mob and run you think it’s a zombie, BUT IT’S NOT! You run. It chases you then you FINALLY you get out of it’s sight and find iron and coal. Later you get a furnace and smelt your iron and make iron tools. When I sit in the library surrounded by great books and I’m told to pick one or two books, I have a lot of trouble. I have gotten into checking prologues, but that spoils the beans. When I gear towards the Newberies, well, there are so many different categories that I don’t know where to go. So what do I do? I went to some students and teachers to see how they pick a book out. The main thing which I hear is that most people walk into the library with a category in mind. When you find that category, you arer apparently supposed to read the first three pages to see first of all, the difficulty and secondly, if you like the writing. For parents especially, remember that someone is more likely to read a book if he/she picks it out. A suggestion would be to get books that are a mix of fiction and nonfiction to sneak in information. So this should sum up the article and I hope that this will help you pick out books!
