Happy Birthday to the Trees! In honor of Tu B'Shevat - Jewish Arbor Day, our friends in Room 25 have been exploring the plants in our classroom.
We are also talking about fruits that grow on trees. We will continue to explore trees, fruits and also celebrate by making a birthday cake and singing happy birthday to the trees in the weeks to come. As our school week comes to an end, we have the wonderful opportunity to celebrate Shabbat together in Room 25. What an amazing weekly experience in the classroom, and also as a community when we go Temple and share the experience with our other First Steps and Discoverer friends. In our classroom, the table is set with candles, a Kiddush cup and a challah. We also have Shabbat puzzles, books and our tzedakah box on the table. We sing Shabbat songs and make matza ball soup on the flannel board. After we celebrate in the classroom, we take a walk on the rope to Temple. We are joined by Ditza and her guitar, and Rabbi Josh. We sing Shabbat songs, say the Sh'ma and then all of the children are blessed under the Tallit. It really is a very special time! We are excited to have all our families experience Shabbat with us in the coming months. Just a reminder... No school on Monday, January 18th - MLK Day No School on Tuesday, January 19th - Teacher Development Day Wishing you a peaceful Shabbat and weekend! Shabbat Shalom! Marcela and Judy
