It's been a short and wonderful week in Room 25! In honor of Tu B'Shevat the children painted with earth colors this week - brown and green. Some friends painted with brushes, while others used their hands. The children are working together and individually to create beautiful art. They are learning to develop their imagination and creativity. They are learning the names of colors and also how to make new colors. They are practicing their fine motor skills, critical thinking skills and also their pre-writing skills. Best of all, they are learning to share and cooperate with each other.
We spent some time exploring leaves, branches and soil at the light table. We discovered that plants have leaves, stems and roots. As we looked closely at the leaves under a magnifying glass, we discovered that some are smooth and some have lines in them. Some leaves are green and some are yellow and brown. All of our friends were fascinated! We also planted lima beans this week. We dipped cotton balls into water, placed them into a zip-loc bag, then put lima beans in.. After that, we taped the bag onto the window. We are hoping that with lots of love and sun - the beans will sprout. Come take a look and see for yourself! Shabbat Shalom to all! Marcela and Judy
