The last holiday of the school year is Shavuot, when the Jewish people received the Torah. After a fire drill, we took the children to the Sanctuary for a special look at our wonderful Torah collection. As we sat in front of the Ark, we talked about the significance of our special “book” and how it is “God’s instruction book”. They held a Yad and were asked to look at their own hands to compare it to what they were holding. They also heard the bells that sit at the top of the Torah case.
The children created flower crowns to adorn their heads for our Shabbat service and looked beautiful all dressed in white. As we near the end of our wonderful year in First Steps, we are reminded of how much they have all changed from those first days in September. Reminders: There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, May 25 in observance of Shavuot. Our Class Party is on June 3 (the last day of school) from 11:15-12:00. Parents are invited.
