For the past two weeks our friends in Room 25 have been building with Lego blocks. Some friends prefer playing independently, while others enjoy working together in small groups. Playing with Lego blocks promotes fine motor skills. Since there are many different shapes and sizes, they are learning to assemble and take apart blocks. These movements promote coordination and dexterity which our friends will need for future writing skills. Building with Legos also helps develop creativity. They are using their imaginations making planes, tall buildings, ships and many other things. At times, their Lego blocks may fall, when they are stacked too high yet they are learning a valuable lesson. If their tower falls, they can start again.
What is most satisfying is when we see small groups of friends working together and cooperating as they build. They are using language skills and learning to listen to each others' ideas. Friendships are blossoming. The possibilities for learning with LEGOS are endless! Thank you to Chanel and her family for joining us for Shabbat. It was wonderful being together and celebrating Shabbat and Chanel's 3rd birthday! Happy Birthday Chanel! Next Wednesday, May 24th, we will have be having a beach/ice cream in the Hoffman building. Please dress in beach attire! Shorts and a tee shirt! Reminders:
Shabbat Shalom, Marcela and Judy
